Vale Family Law & Mediation is built upon the belief that you can resolve family law issues with dignity, respect and perseverance. Our team have dedicated their careers to helping families through difficult and complex situations, from going through a divorce to making parenting arrangements that preserve your relationship with your children. From our office in Chilliwack, we assist families throughout the Fraser Valley in need of qualified guidance.

Anouk Crawford

With a background in both psychology and law, Anouk is uniquely suited to assist you to create and sustain a resolution structure that helps you move through difficult conflicts. Family law has been the focus of Anouk’s practice since she began practicing in 2005.

As a litigator, Anouk remains open to opportunities that will help you reach a conclusion without the need for court. If court is necessary, Anouk and her team work tirelessly to prepare your case and vigorously defend your position.

Anouk began mediating in 2006 and has significant experience working with families, educating them about family law and working with them through the challenge of creating a family structure that best supports their children. She also has significant experience working with parties to determine complex property division, spousal support and mobility issues. She is regularly called on to mediate throughout the Lower Mainland and Fraser Valley.

Anouk has significant experience working with families coping with depression, anger and the struggles of high-conflict separation. Her focus is on helping clients untangle their unresolved family law matters in a manner that is safe and responsible for the client.

Anouk’s professional style has been described as practical, no non-sense, educational and respectful.

Anouk has a passion for community involvement, believing that great communities are created and sustained by active involvement. For 6.5 years, commencing in 2012, she was an active member of the Public Safety Advisory Committee for the City of Chilliwack. Since December 2015 Anouk has been a member of the Board of Trustees for the Chilliwack Academy of Music. Recently, Anouk was elected to the National Small, Solo and General Practice Section Board for the Canadian Bar Association, as a Member-at-Large and is excited to begin contributing to her professional community in new and exciting ways. Anouk has regularly presented to professional groups in the Fraser Valley and beyond, educating school counsellors, school administrators, counsellors, front-line support workers and medical practitioners on family law issues as they impact the practice of these professionals and their support of their clients. She has a passion for her family, her dog Coffee, art, the symphony, bright colours and an eternal hope that she will one day grow a respectable garden.

Erin Fleury

Erin joined Vale Family Law & Mediation in September 2018 as an Articled Student and is now practicing with our team as an Associate.  Erin has proven herself to be a strong advocate and an incredible asset to the Vale team.  We like to call her Tenacious E!

Erin grew up in Calgary and is happy to be a transplant to the West Coast.  She has made Chilliwack her home, and our community is so lucky to have her as an active member.  Erin is a talented musician and is an active member of the Board of Trustees for the Chilliwack Academy of Music.  She also has a strong history of contributing to community through volunteering with Hospice and other community endeavours.

In her time away from the office, Erin is a passionate reader, lover of board-games and time with friends.  She is plotting to get a dog, or two, or three and she has our full support in this.

Devon Lal

Devon has been a life long resident of BC with two years away while studying Law in Glasgow, Scotland.  Devon is a committed advocate, a strong legal writer and brings tremendous communication skills to both build client knowledge and to create bridges with the opposing counsel.  Clients are regularly heard saying how much they appreciate Devon’s compassionate approach.   He has a depth of understanding for what clients face in separation and divorce and meets clients where they are at.

Devon has a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Kwantlen Polytechnic University and completed a LLB in Scots and English Law from the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow, Scotland in 2017.  Devon articled with Vale Family Law and Mediation prior to taking his Oath in September 2021.

Devon plays community soccer and loves all professional sports.  He loves his sidekick, Aaliyah the Border Collie and continues to wok on lengthening the list of activities that keep Aaliyah busy.  He has always wanted to play piano (that has not happened yet, but he is not giving up).

Teri McEachern

Teri was born and raised in Chilliwack and raised her son in Chilliwack.  She is likely the first face you see when you walk into Vale Family Law & Mediation, or your first point of contact by phone.  She is warm, welcoming and brings a great deal of understanding to each person that walks in the door.  She is often referred to as our “Den Mother” and creates a very loving environment at Vale.  In addition to all of these qualities Teri is an integral part of our team when it comes to file management and having the office run smoothly.

Prior to being at Vale Family Law & Mediation, Teri had many years of experience as a legal assistant in the family law arena. 

Outside of work, Teri has a strong network of family and friends that she enjoys spending time with. Teri is a committed animal lover and adds to our community in small and big ways to make it a more vibrant and peaceful place.
